Small Batch Coffee Roasters (1kg to 3kg)

After sample roasters(300g-500g), the next step in roasting coffee on any commercial scale is a small batch roaster. 

We had customer who roasted coffee beans at home. This customer was very clever and intelligent. Through continuous roasting, he became a roasting master, producing exceptionally great beans. Eventually, he upgraded and started a professional coffee bean roasting business, supplying many coffee shops with beans that tasted truly outstanding.

His advantage was small-batch roasting, which allowed for very short supply cycles and always provided fresh coffee beans.

These roasters range sizes from 1 kilogram to about 3 kilograms and are perfect for large-scale sample roasting or determining the right roast profile for new coffees.

These are excellent choices for micro-roasteries and successful coffee shops that wish to roast their own beans. Most coffee shops sell no more than 10 kilograms of coffee per day, but even with higher sales, a 1kg to 3kg roaster can deliver in just a few hours.

For a café or an existing smaller coffee business, this is a good starting point.

By starting small and being strategic about the amount of coffee roasted, you can steadily build a wholesale customer base without taking on the high-risk management costs associated with more expensive roasters.

A 2kg roaster is the backbone of the self-roasting industry. It provides enough capacity to truly grow with a low enough capital expenditure that anyone with savings and a passion for business can use.

However, small batch roasters can also be used by larger roasteries. Many will keep a machine of this size to trial new coffees without wasting large quantities of fresh green coffee. The profiles developed can then be transferred to larger commercial machines to begin roasting at scale.
